Louisiana held its primary on October 14 where they elected a new Governor, re-elected the Lt. Governor, and filled 124 of the 144 seats in the state legislature. In three statewide offices and 20 state legislative seats no candidate achieved a 50%+1 majority of the vote. The top two vote-getters from those races have advanced to the general election. The races for Secretary of State, Attorney General, and Treasurer all feature a Republican vs Democrat matchup emerging from the all-parties primary. Republicans will take back control of all statewide executive offices if they sweep in the general. Of the 20 state legislative races, 15 of them are intraparty matchups. Republicans already secured control of the State Senate and State House in the primary. Polls close at 8:00 p.m. (CST). We will have the election results below once they do.
