Voters in Louisiana are heading to the polls in a Saturday election to vote on a full slate of statewide offices and four statewide ballot issues. Every seat in both chambers of the State Legislature are also on the ballot. Many of the statewide offices are open this time including the Governor’s office with Democrat John Bel Edwards being term-limited out. Candidates from every party run on the same ballot. If a candidate achieves a 50%+1 majority of the vote, they are declared the winner. If no candidate gets a majority, the top two vote-getters advance to the general election. Louisiana will hold its general election on November 18th. Polls are open from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. (CDT).
