We have two special elections in New England today. Both for open seats in state Houses of Representatives.
The first is in Merrimack, NH where one of the seats in the 21st Hillsborough district is open after Speaker of the New Hampshire House Dick Hinch died due to complications with COVID-19. There are three candidates in the race, a Democrat, a Republican, and a candidate from the American Solidarity Party. No candidate faced a primary election. Polls close at 7 pm eastern.
The second contest takes us to Connecticut’s 112th District in Monroe and Newtown. The seat is open after the resignation of J.P. Sredzinski. There are three candidates in the contest, a Republican, a Democrat, and a member of the Independent Party of Connecticut, all nominated by party caucus. Polls close at 8 pm eastern.
