The seat in Texas’ 2nd State House District is vacant after Republican Rep. Bryan Slaton was expelled following a report that found he had engaged in sexual misconduct with a 19-year-old aide. The 2nd district covers portions of Hopkins, Hunt, and Van Zandt counties. Six candidates ran in a November 2023 special election, but none achieved a majority of the vote, so the race has gone to a runoff. Both of the candidates who advanced from the special election are Republicans. Polls close at 7 p.m. (CST). We will have the election results below once they do.
