The seat in Pennsylvania’s 21st State House District is vacant after Democrat Sara Innamorato resigned to run for Allegheny County Executive. The 21st District covers part of Pittsburgh up into the northern suburbs. The resignation moved the balance of power in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives back to a 101-101 tie. Today’s race in this heavily Democratic district will decide the balance of power in the chamber. Candidates for today’s contest were chosen by local committees. Democrats put forward former Congressional staffer Lindsay Powell, while Republicans went with local party chairperson Erin Autenreith. Polls close at 8 p.m. (EDT). We will have the election results below once they do.
