We’re just one week away from Election Day across the country (make sure you are signed up for a free DDHQ account to get full access to all of our coverage), but today we’re tracking the special election results for a vacant seat in the New Hampshire state House of Representatives. The vacant seat is one of the two seats in Cheshire County’s 9th District, which covers the towns of Dublin, Harrisville, Jaffrey, and Roxbury in eastern Cheshire County. It is vacant after former New Hampshire House Majority Leader Douglas Ley passed away back in June. Two candidates are running to fill the vacancy. The Democratic nominee is former Harrisville Selectman Andrew Maneval, who ran unsuccessfully for the state House of Representatives in a different Cheshire County district last year. The Republican nominee is Rita Mattson who ran unsuccessfully as one of the Republican nominees for this district in the 2020 general election but easily won the special primary for this vacant seat back in September. Both seats in this district have been held by Democrats since it was formed in the last redistricting (previously there were only seven state House districts in Cheshire County). We will have election results here once polls close at 7 p.m. (EDT)
