None of the three candidates for the GOP nomination for Governor in Mississippi crossed the 50% threshold in the first round, so today’s election is between the top two finishers. Lt. Governor Tate Reeves led in the initial voting with 48.9% and faces former state Supreme Court Justice Bill Waller, Jr. who drew 33.4% support. State Representative Robert Foster was eliminated after garnering 17.7% support.
The winner of today’s runoff will face Democratic Attorney General Jim Hood who easily won his party’s nomination on August 6th.
