Medium Buying (@mediumbuying) took a look at this race and broke down the TV spending by market:
“The NCCD3 special primary runoff is not special because there is any doubt the party who will retain this seat, but because it’s the latest proxy fight between the “Institution” & “Conservative Ideologues” in the fight for the soul of the Republican congressional minority. The “Institution” via Winning for Women & Women Speak Out are backing Joan Perry & squaring off vs House Freedom Action & CFG backing Greg Murphy. The “Institution” has outspent the conservative castle stormers on media, but it will likely be in vain as Murphy maintains a stronger geographic base via his state legislative district, in fact one stop/early voting shows nearly 23% of votes are coming from Murphy’s home of PITT County, a huge advantage in a low turnout special primary runoff election. The effort to increase female GOP membership in the caucus is important and needed, but this was likely not the district to make this kind of plant a flag, make a statement, create a case study… all in play.”
