We have one Saturday race we’re tracking today. The seat in the 93rd State House District is vacant after Democrat Royce Duplessis was elected to the State Senate. The district lies completely within New Orleans. There are six candidates running for the vacancy, five Democrats and one Republican. One of the Democratic candidates is Sibil “Fox” Richardson, an author and the subject of the 2020 Oscar-nominated documentary “Time”. She has been endorsed by New Orleans area Democratic Congressman Troy Carter. The Republican candidate, Matthew Hill, is the first Republican to run in the district since 1999. He has run twice for Mayor of New Orleans but only recently joined the Republican Party. If no candidate achieves a 50%+1 majority of the vote, the top two vote-getters will move on to the general election on March 25. Polls close at 8 p.m. CST. We will have the election results below once they do.
