Mississippi ran its primary elections back on August 8. In all of the statewide and state senate races, the winning candidate achieved a 50%+1 majority of the vote to avoid a runoff election. However, in six of the state House of Representative primaries, no candidate cleared the majority threshold. Those primaries, three Democratic and three Republican, will be decided today in runoff elections. Two of the Republican contests feature incumbents, House District 2 in Alcorn County and House District 105 covering three counties in the southeast of the state. We are also tracking two county supervisor races in Hinds County, the state’s most populous county. Each of those contests features incumbents as well. Polls close at 8 p.m. (CDT). We will have the election results for you below once they do.
