No one likes making mistakes. We’re no different. When we do we need to acknowledge them and take responsibility.
Last night we made a call in the Texas Attorney General GOP Runoff race at 8:37pm eastern time. There are counties in western Texas on Mountain Time where polls don’t close until 7pm local, 9pm eastern. The call was correct but the timing broke the tradition of not calling races until every eligible voter had a chance to vote in the election
We sincerely apologize to the voters in Texas for this mistake.
Moving forward we’ll be doing what we do after every election — looking at what we did well and where we need to make adjustments to do better — a never ending but necessary process.
