New Jersey
It’s primary election day in the Garden State, as voters across New Jersey are heading to the polls to choose their party’s nominees for the state legislature. Democrats currently control both the State Senate and General Assembly. Voters must be registered with the party whose ballot they plan on voting on prior to going to the polls unless they are currently unaffiliated with any party in which case they can choose their party at their polling location. The State Senate and General Assembly both use the same district map, however, State Senate districts will only elect one senator, whereas in a General Assembly district, two representatives are elected. Polls close at 8 p.m. EDT, we will have the election results below shortly after.
