We have finally arrived at the first night of the 2022 midterm primaries! First up is Texas. You can find the most up-to-the-minute results for all of the Texas races at results.decisiondeskhq.com. There you will find results for not only the governor and US House races, but other contests that are sure to be exciting like the attorney general and railroad commissioner primaries. You can hang out with the guys at Elections Daily as results roll in tonight here, and you can also check our Texas Primary preview from Nick Field where he breaks down the most important contests going on today in the Lone Star State. The first polls close at 7 p.m. (CST), with two counties, Hudspeth and El Paso, closing an hour later as they are in the Mountain time zone. We expect to have election results soon after polls close.
Bonus Coverage: State House of Representatives Special Elections
We also still have election results of all of the state legislative special elections going on today. There is one race for the vacant seat in Connecticut’s 5th State House District which covers northeast Hartford and all of Windsor. The candidates were selected through local party conventions. Republicans and Democrats both fielded a candidate, and there is an independent candidate running as well.
In Michigan, there are four vacant seats in the state House of Representatives across four different counties: Kent, Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne. Three of the seats opened up after their former incumbents were elected to another office, however, the seat in House District 43 became vacant after Andrea Schroeder tragically passed away after a long battle with cancer. Both parties are holding primaries today to nominate who will run for those seats. Four of the eight contests are uncontested, meaning only one candidate filed to run in the primary for that party. Three of the uncontested races are on the Democratic side, while one is on the Republican side. Polls close at 8 p.m. (EST) in both states. We will have election results for you then.
