There is just one race we’re tracking today. The seat in New York’s 68th State Assembly District is vacant after Robert Rodriguez was appointed acting Secretary of State of New York. The district covers most of East Harlem and small sections of the surrounding neighborhoods. Candidates for this race were chosen by local party committees. Democrats chose political consultant Eddie Gibbs, while Republicans went with investment banker Daby Benjamine Carreras, who was also the Republican nominee for New York City Comptroller in November 2021. Tamika Mapp also filed to run as an independent candidate after failing to secure the Democratic nomination. She appears on the absentee ballots that were initially sent out, however, she has since been disqualified from the ballot and is now running a write-in campaign. We will have the results below once the polls close at 9 p.m. (EST)
