We’re following the mayoral election results for the nonpartisan primary in St. Petersburg, Florida today. Incumbent mayor Rick Kriseman is term-limited after serving two full terms, so we have an open race. There are eight candidates running to replace him. Among them are City Councilmember Robert Blackmon, City Councilmember Darden Rice, and former Pinellas County Commissioner Ken Welch. If no candidate achieves a 50%+1 majority of the vote, the top two vote-getters move onto a runoff election on November 2. In each of the last three mayoral primaries, the top two vote-getters were within 2% of each other (in 2017 the top two were only separated by 70 votes). All three contests went to a runoff. We will have the election results for today’s race here once polls close at 7 p.m. (EDT)
