Omaha
In Omaha, Nebraska, two-term incumbent Mayor Jean Stothert is facing a challenge from RJ Neary, an Omaha area developer. Both advanced from a nonpartisan primary on April 6 where Mayor Stothert received a majority of votes in the five-person field. Although the race is officially nonpartisan, Mayor Stothert is affiliated with the Republican Party, and Mr. Neary is affiliated with the Democratic Party. Anchorage
Up in Anchorage, Alaska, the mayoral race has gone to a runoff after no candidate received more than 45% of the vote in the April 6th general election which had a field of fifteen candidates. Dave Bronson, a former U.S. Air Force and commercial pilot, and Anchorage Assemblyman Forrest Dunbar were the top two vote-getters, only separated themselves by 1,513 votes (about 2%). Although it is officially a nonpartisan election, Dave Bronson is affiliated with the Republican Party, and Forrest Dunbar is affiliated with the Democratic Party. The incumbent interim Mayor Austin Quinn-Davidson, who was chosen to be interim mayor in October following the scandal and resignation of former Mayor Ethan Berkowitz, opted not to run in the general election.
