We have two state legislature special elections tonight.
The first is a runoff contest in Georgia House District 90, which covers parts of DeKalb, Henry, and Rockdale Counties. The seat is open after incumbent Democrat Pam Stephenson withdrew from the November election. Back in an early February primary, Stan Watson and Angela Moore finished in the top two spots to advance to tonight’s runoff. Since no Republican ran in the 2020 general election for this seat, the winner of tonight’s primary runoff will take office. Polls close at 7 pm eastern.
The second race is in Maine Senate District 14, which covers eleven municipalities in Kennebec County. The seat is open after two-term State Senator Shenna Bellows was not sworn in for her third-term upon being elected secretary of state by the Maine Legislature. The two candidates for this special election were chosen by party caucuses. Polls close at 8 pm eastern.
