It’s election day in North Carolina with two special elections taking place today.
In NC-03 voters are going to the polls to elect a successor to Republican Walter Jones who died earlier this year. It’s a heavily GOP leaning district and Republican Greg Murphy is the favorite.
In the heavily contested NC-09 special election, Dan Bishop(R) is battling with Dan McCready(D) to fill the seat left vacant after the North Carolina State Election Board refused to certify the results of the November 2018 election. In that contest Republican Mark Harris lead after the votes were counted but allegations of fraud by an operative working for Harris called into question the fairness of the result. Harris “won” by fewer than 1,000 votes over McCready but he declined to run in the special election.t
Polls close at 7:30 eastern, with first early and absentee returns expected to be reported shortly thereafter. We’ll have results from both elections and live streaming commentary here at analysisdddhq.wpenginepowered.com.
Sounds like McCready is going to have to be slightly more reliant on the suburban whites in south Chalotte than last time. #nc09 https://t.co/tEb0K8Okeq
